Pri kompilácii na novších Visual Studiách alebo v iných prostrediach sa pri kompilácii Half-Life SDK (ale aj Spirit atď.) vyskytnú kompilačné chyby a varovania. Nemôžete si zohnať Visual C++ 6.0, o ktorom sa doteraz tvrdilo, že sa SDK dá skompilovať iba s ním a zadarmo sú iba Visual Studio 2005 a 2008 Express. Postup zmieňovaný ďalej je funkčný na VS 2003 .NET, ale na iných kompilačných programoch (DevC++ atď.) je nefunkčný! To isté platí aj pre Express verzie VC++. Otvorte serverovú časť (hl.dll) a v súbore weapons.h nájdite (nevkladajte rovno): HasWeapon( CBasePlayer NIEČO) a zmenťe tento riadok takto: BOOL HasWeapon( CBasePlayer NIEČO) V klientskej časti (cl.dll) otvorte hud_spectator.cpp a nájdite : i = sqrt(i); a tento riadok prepíšte takto: i = sqrt((float)i); Teraz by ste mali byť schopný skompilovať SDK aj na novších nástrojoch.
